Transition Period for Existing Regulated Dealers of Precious Stones and Precious Metals to Register Ends on 9 October 2019On 17 September 2019, the Ministry of Law issued a Press Release to remind existing dealers of precious stones and precious metals ("regulated dealers") to register with the Registrar of Regulated Dealers by 9 October 2019. This is the end of the transition period for existing regulated dealers to register under the Precious Stones and Precious Metals (Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing) Act. 12 September 2019 on the use of company’s name on letters, documents, signboards or public advertisements. This is to ensure public order and proper control over the use of names of commercial enterprises.
Myanmar Passes Gambling Law 2019 to Update its Gambling Regulatory Regime, but Many Questions RemainOn 7th May 2019, Myanmar enacted the Gambling Law 2019, which supersedes and repeals the old Gambling Law 1986. While the new law aims to modernise Myanmar's gambling law, it has raised questions over whether it addresses newer developments in the gambling space, in particular remote gambling.
